Seattle Opera RING: GREER GRIMSLEY by Seattle Opera published on 2012/09/12 00:29:05 +0000 American bass-baritone Greer Grimsley sings Wotan's "Abendlich strahlt" from Wagner's DAS RHEINGOLD. The king of the gods casts back over the events of a day in which everything seemed to go wrong, before he finds the courage to name and enter the new castle, Valhalla, as it gleams in the setting sun on the other side of a rainbow bridge. Grimsley won Seattle Opera's "Artist of the Year" Award the first time he sang Wotan, in 2005. In 2013, he'll sing this vast role first at the Met, then at Seattle Opera.
