Reuniting with Gibson for the first time since 1995’s Oscar-winning “Braveheart,” James Horner employs many of the same approaches he did on his score for Terrence Malick’s “The New World” just one year prior – traditional orchestral action work infused with indigenous instrumental and vocal motifs, ambient accents and orchestrations designed to evoke the percussive rhythms and tones of Native American tribal music. The effect ranges from the suspenseful and menacing (Tapir Hunt, Holcane Attack) to the mysterious and haunting (Entering the City / With a Future Foretold, Words Through the Sky – The Eclipse).
