A1. Toyboy & Robin - No More Sunshine by Sccucci Manucci published on 2012/07/13 13:16:17 +0000 Sccucci Manucci reaches its fifth release, imaginatively entitled 'Cinquemila Lire EP'... which will make sense to anyone old enough to remember arriving in pre-€uro Italy, checking your bank balance and realising you were to be briefly a millionaire. Sccucci 005 is definite shift for the label, moving gradually more in to the world of house. Not that we are distancing ourselves from disco (wait for 006). First up on the release we have Manchester based duo Toyboy & Robin. We had been admiring the releases on their own label Cool Kid Music when one day we received a demo from them... we snapped it up on the spot. New Jersey style beats and treats weave their way through MK organ basses, RnB vocals and an infectious groove. Next up we have close friends of the label Sahin Meyer, the husband and wife duo have turned in a simply incredible track. It feels like a house track produced in the 1970's... everything from the vocal to the bass drips with analogue frequencies... Tingles up the back when the vocal really kicks in. Illyus is the third artist on the release, he dangled a demo infront of us, asking for a home, we fell in love with the track, and he said it had already been signed... so we signed another of his tracks instead, which was equally brilliant, only to be told the original was available again... so we signed them both. This is the first of the two tracks we have by Illyus, a deep house groover with more soul than Aretha Franklin & Marvin Gaye's illegitimate love child. Fourth and by no means last we have Firas, one half of the Waze & Odyssey duo that graced SCCUCCI 004, and went on to absolutely smash the back out of the UK underground dance scene... Firas shows a deep understanding of the dancefloor with this track, building tension through out, until the drop where all hell breaks lose, drinks go flying, feet rush to the floor and arses start firmly shaking!
