Aleksand SAYA Reunion Island SAYA begins practicing his scales in the 90s within the hip-hop movement and underground reggae in Réunion Island. While he evolves into sound systems and other block parties, the young artist falls in love with maloya music, the native music of his country. Through “kabar” events, lifted by maloya’s powerful rhythms and instruments, SAYA chooses to make it the cornerstone of his work. Animated by curiosity and open-minded to the world, multi-instrumentalist, keen on beat-making and sampling, he then initiates himself to roulèr, kayanm and other traditional instruments from maloya. Following in the footsteps of Alain Peters, Caroussel, or TiFock, he then decides to walk the path of Maloya Fusion.
