SanteroMusic Santero New Orleans Award winning recording artist, producer, deejay and radio host, Santero has his finger on the pulse of the music industry. Santero is the founder of the annual Forever Selena festival in Brooklyn, NY and the monthly Kilimanjaro international dance parties in Oakland, CA and New Orleans, LA as well as the cofounder of the Bay Area Cumbia Cruise. He is also head of A&R for Baylando Records/Sonido Baylando. Santero has two award winning albums to his name, 2005’s Arawaks & Maroons and 2009’s El Hijo De Obatala. Santero was named Best New Artist by Batanga magazine for his 2005 debut album Arawaks & Maroons and later made Remezcla’s 2008 Top Ten list. Santero's sophomore release, El Hijo de Obatala garnered critical acclaim, featured on NPR’s All Things Considered & Latino USA. Santero’s El Hijo De Obatala made several critic’s top 10 lists for best album of 2009 in the Village Voice, SF Weekly & other publications. Santero also won a 2009 SF Weekly Music Award for Best International Artist. In addition, he has released numerous singles and remixes in recent years. Santero has shared stages with world renowned artists ranging from Femi Kuti, Damien Marley & Magic System to Erykah Badu, Lupe Fiasco & Janelle Monae. When he is not producing events in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and New Orleans, Santero is the Senior Music Content Editor for Latin America at Nielsen.
