Campari Classics: Balearica Melancholia by Sam Campari published on 2012-08-18T15:36:56Z Balearic disco refers more to a mood than a particular sound, and so this leftfield mix covers ground across a few genres including garage, indie, disco and house. If it sounds a bit melancholy, it's because it was the end of a brilliant summer. Although Balearica refers to the downtempo disco of the Spanish isles, this mix has its genesis in the warm waters of the Adriatic where we played an early version of it at Electric Elephant festival in 2010. For those who know, many would argue it is a better home for Balearica than modern Ibiza! Happy memories of Funktion 1 sound over the beach bar and the best crowd you could hope for.. The Campari Classics series present a selection of essential cuts to show an archetype of disco in all its twisted forms. Keeping true to our roots, these are recorded using vinyl and turntables, with a minimum of mastering. Rejoice in the odd squiffy mix - there's a human behind this!
