He picked up his first guitar when he was 9, but didn’t start learning until he was 15, as soon as he turned enthusiastic in learning after he came across some of his biggest influences. He plays the acoustic in a different unique way called percussive-fingerstyle-guitar, which involves hitting the body of the guitar as a percussive instrument and tapping the strings at the same time as well as singing to suits his playing. His style of playing is hugely influenced by Newton Faulkner. He has supported Alexandra Burke and Marcus Collins from Xfactor at ‘Hull Pride’ in front of thousands of people. He has performed at Hull City Hall, Sheffield City Hall and he has also performed on the IndigO2 stage at the O2 arena in London. Open Mic UK Finalist! He has been given an award for his best original song 'Sitting By The River' in North of England and Scotland in 2012. Hull Star search Finalist! He has performed live radio on the David Burns show and James Hoggarth show on BBC Radio Humberside and Alan Raw’s show on BBC Introducing Humberside. His original tracks have gained some airplay on BBC Introducing Humberside and his original track ‘Waste Your Time’ has gained airplay on BBC Radio Leeds on the 'The Mark Forrest Evening Show' across the country. He has performed in festivals, such as Springboard festival, Filey Folk Festival, Filey Blues Festival, Hull Folk festival, Hull Pride, Siren Sound summer and winter festival and Hull Trinity festival. After playing all these gigs and festivals, he is hoping to continue performing more gigs as much as he can for everyone to enjoy his music, as well as creating more fan base and see where it takes him. His ‘Sitting By The River’ EP will hopefully be on itunes sometime this year! ‘Like’ his page for music updates - www.facebook.com/samarkutmusic Follow Sam on Twitter @SamArkut.
