Ryan Williams' Flashmob Ryan Williams London Flashmob were formed in 2007 by Cornish guitarist Ryan Williams whilst completing his final year of studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Upon finishing at the Guildhall, Ryan continued to compose and develop material for the Quartet, drawing on a wide range of influences and honing a cohesive, consistent repertoire exploring long forms, grooves and free elements. The Quartet consists of Rory Simmons (Trumpet), Will Collier (Bass), Nick Smalley (Drums) and Ryan Williams (Guitar). Over the last three years, the Quartet has performed extensively across the U.K. and Europe. The other members of the quartet are active members of London’s Contemporary music scene, both as sidemen as well as leaders of their own projects. Flashmob’s debut album, ‘Generals’ was released on the F-IRE label in September 2011, this was followed up by an extensive Jazz Services supported UK tour which included a performance at last year’s London Jazz Festival. Upon its release, ‘Generals’ received rave reviews and saw the band featured in the October issue of Jazzwise. The beginning of 2012 sees Flashmob perform at Jez Nelson’s (Jazz on 3) prestigious new showcase, ‘Jazz in the round’ alongside Andrew McCormack and Shabaka Hutchings. The Guardian’s John Fordham made Flashmob his ones to watch for 2012 saying that the band’s “current F-IRE label debut should widen the audience for its mix of lyrical jazz and taut contemporary rhythms.” Ryan Williams' Flashmob’s tracks Chetniks by Ryan Williams' Flashmob published on 2011-09-13T10:12:36Z O.A.C (Reprise) by Ryan Williams' Flashmob published on 2011-09-11T21:13:42Z Catalogue Of Error by Ryan Williams' Flashmob published on 2011-09-11T20:43:58Z
