Triorion - Music from the Sci Fi book series by L J Hackmeister by Ryan Nicholl Audio Ltd. published on 2013-01-24T03:12:38Z I was commissioned by L.J. to write music based on her sci-fi book series 'Triorion' for streaming on her website www.triorion.com and as a pledge prize on her Kickstarter page (search 'Triorion'). Here's an excerpt from Kickstarter page describing the music: "Crafted by professional video game composer and esteemed musician Ryan Nicholl of RNA Studios, the Triorion orchestral theme music brings new dimension to the struggles of Jetta, Jaeia, and Jahx Kyron, from the triplets’ troubled and mysterious beginnings to their galactic battles against the legions of the undead Motti. Rigorously composed over two months, Ryan shows the conflict, loss, and costly triumph of the triplets. In his own words, Ryan describes his work: “The initial melody played on piano can be thought of as the ‘triplets’ theme.’ Through the course of six movements, the listener can hear the triplets hiding, being chased and attacked, feeling loss and eventually transformed by the malign forces in this epic story. But in the end, during the last two movements, we can hear that some victory has been found, if only a fleeting one...” Ryan also scored and provided the sound design for the Triorion teaser trailer, giving us a chilling sample of his work. In this short, evocative segment, the listener is caught in the rising malevolent dissonance, only to narrowly escape on the melodic innocence of the triplets' theme. “It’s an extraordinarily potent, visceral experience. For those that have read the book—you know which scenes Ryan has chosen to highlight. For those that haven’t yet—you’ll know with certainty what awaits you.” –E. Linden, Amazon Reviewer With over five minutes of fully symphonic music, the Triorion theme music provides unique depth to the storytelling experience that is not to be missed." For those with technical questions it was composed & recorded in Nuendo 5.5 with VSTi instruments from the East West Collections Symphonic Orchestra Platinum, Stormdrum 2, Pianos Platinum and Cakewalk Rapture Synth. It was mastered with Waves REQ 6, VComp, Ultramaximizer and Steinberg Apogee UVR. Every instrument was composed & written by 'mouse' in the MIDI editor as I have a complete inability to play the piano sitting in front of me. I pretty much just use it to quickly test sounds, key switches and chord voicings. I offer music theory & composition lessons via www.rnastudios.com and www.coloradoguitarlessons.com so hit me up if you want your brain to explode.
