rukuslive MC RUKUS LAGOS Rukus made a splash on the scene appearing on Eldee’s smash hit “Big Boy” remix alongside rising stars Iceberg Slim and Proto (aka Chiddy of Chiddy Bang). Later that year, he released the “Can’t Forget” LP which featured the touching classic “Everyday”, a track listed as #50 in HipHopCritic’s Top 100 Songs of 2008 (www.hiphopcritic.com). In 2010, Oakland radio picked up Rukus’ touching tribute to Oscar Grant entitled “Dear Tatiana”; the song served as a rallying cry for Oakland residents outraged and placed Rukus alongside Novel and Mistah FAB as outspoken activists against police brutality. Later in the year, Rukus shifted his focus to Nigeria with his critically acclaimed “The Hunger” mixtape showing off his lyrical versatility, and boasting a roster of the best artists in Nigeria. In 2011 Rukus caught the eye of Nigerian super producer Don Jazzy and was chosen as a finalist for his Enigma competition from over 3000 entries. Finally, in 2012, Rukus' lyrical artistry caught the notice of Trybe Records CEO, Eldee, who inked him to a multi-album deal and named him General Manager of the label in July.
