Rowena101 Rowena Nelson Birmingham British Singer/Songwriter ABOUT Rowena 'The Voice' Nelson began singing at the age of five at her Grandmothers church in Birmingham, performing at different occasions such as, Conventions and Weddings. She knew even then that a career in the music industry was what she wanted and believes she has the talent, ambition and drive to achieve her ultimate goal. In 1998 Rowena auditioned for Mike Stock and Matt Aiken and out of 120 people, she and nine others were chosen to feature in the Channel Four documentary 'Fusion: Searching for a Star' which gained her recognition from local newspapers and radio. This also attracted attention from the BBC's Blue Peter where she performed a track called 'Blinded by Love' written and produced by Mike Stock and Matt Aiken and has never looked back. Rowena has since nurtured her own sound, learning to play guitar, consistently writing new material and has grown as a singer songwriter. The tracks from her EP ‘The Beginning' have all been written by Rowena and she has been eager to get on stage and tour her material. In June 2009 she performed a selection of her songs on the BBC's West Midlands radio station show 'Introducing' and various other locations around the Midlands to gain more exposure. Rowena has now also expanded her fanbase by using social networking to bring her sound to a wider audience. Her musical influences are artists such as Jimmy Hendrix, Aretha Franklin, Curtis Mayfield, Tina Turner, Beyonce, Dusty Springfield, Madonna, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and No Doubt and this eclectic mix adds spice and variety to her own music making. Rowena is looking for a dynamic, exciting, creative and inspired management team who are looking to invest in an equally unique and diverse talent. A team of people who not only believe in dreams but who have the ability and foresight to achieve them and help take her to the next level of obtaining a major record deal.
