Resurrecting the Champ (Original Theme Based on the Movie) by Meg

This was an assignment given to me the week before I left for the Palomar Film Music Workshop, where I studied with Larry Groupe, Roger Neill, Garry Schyman, George S. Clinton, Bill Piyatut, and Rick Martin. Larry gave us all the script to the film, "Resurrecting the Champ" (starring Samuel L. Jackson) and we were asked to write a 1-2 minute theme. The film is a boxing movie, but the deeper story is about the relationship between fathers and sons, and of redemption of self. I tried to capture all of these elements in my theme. This theme is dedicated to my own father, who isn't perfect (just as the fathers in the film) but who I love just the same. <3
