Another 13 selections are here for this month of October 2012. As I say almost every month, really thrilled to hear what these talented producers were able to contribute to the better sound of dance music.
Started this one off with 'I Read About You' by the techno titan, Gary Beck. First time I heard this one, I immediately wanted to use it to open this promo up. Following the intro, Rodskeez delivers yet again for me with his remix of 'Vamusa', a head bobbing progressive house tune that I have already been playing in my live sets.
Always one of my go to guys, Cid Inc. breaks out one of his new remixes of DNYO & Tim Penner's 'From North', with his signature techy, yet clearly progressive, mind bending sound. I firmly believe that Cid started producing trance before he got into the sound he creates today :) Lank, who I think is one of the most talented progressive producers to date, makes another powerhouse remix for Darin Epsilon's 'Lapis Lazuli'. Another droning bassline that leaves you humming it repeatedly along with the track with each listen.
Most of the time, Marco Bailey makes some tracks that are completely out of my playing field, but when he teams up with Tom Hades every once in a while, I am sure to not skip over the release. Sure enough, their tune 'Bonisita' was yet another successful prog techno track that I could not stay away from. Def a peak time 7 AM banger, and worked well as an extreme energy booster, and turning point in this mix.
Time for a bit of a throwback, at least for me. A tune that I sneak in during my live performances that I think is so club is Remy's remix of David Forbes' 'Teknika' from 2008. Fell in love with it when I first heard it, and still feel the same about it. This is one tune that I will probably never stop listening to and supporting. On with more progressive trancers, there are some new kids on the NY producer block that go by the name of 'Silicon Syndicate'. They messaged me with a few tunes of theirs, and gotta say, I was completely blown away by their composition style and old school prog trance feeling. Be on the lookout for 'Impulse Anomaly' by 'Silicon Syndicate, coming soon on Mistique Music!
Continuing with more older tracks, RIP Slacker, who was a well known producer back in the day in the prog house and prog trance realms. His remix of Breeder's 'Tyrantanic' from 2000 is another one of those tunes that was ahead of it's time. Great idea and execution with this real trance tune, they don't make 'em like this anymore. DJ Shy, from Italy, follows through with a HUGE emotional melodic tune that caught my attention from the first second. Def one of those tunes for me, as a DJ, that you just picture when, and where you would like to fit this in a set when you first hear it. I actually opened up with this tune when I went B2B with Airwave at Tammany Hall on Sept. 22nd last month, here in NY. Will be playing this one for a while.
Throwback time twice more, back to back, with a Pesh remix of 'Lost', and cannot forget one of my all time favorite euphoric tech-trancers, 'Lithium 2' by Oliver Lieb under his guise 'Paragliders'. Another tune that I will always enjoy playing out. Great music never dies. To close things out, a name that is synonymous with melodic, uplifting, emotional, drivin' trance, is 'Ultimate'. I feel his tracks fly under the radar and doesn't get the support he deserves, but I usually am a fan of every track he puts together, and I was feeling no different with is remix of 'Rise Again'.
Thank you everyone for listening as always, and hoped you enjoyed this months addition of 13 of the best! Enjoy The Journey….
