Buenos Aires, Argentina
Rodrigo Roux was born the 14th of December, in the neighborhood of Caballito, located in the central area of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Since he was a kid he loved music, and like any of us, influenced by the music his parents heard, was always surrounded the music of artists like Daft Punk, Pink Floyd, Queen, Coldplay, amongst others.
Rodrigo was so into music that from this point on, he was always looking for his favorite artists and their most recent updates concerning their production.
At the age of 6, he moved to El Salvador and to Lima, Peru at 11. This last place is where he took a step into the world of electronic music. It is in 2009 when he bought his first album, One Love, by David Guetta. This album caught his full attention and urged him to get deeper into the genre.
About a year passed until he decided, at the age of 14, to attend a party produced by a Peruvian electronic music promote group named Loop. The party, Loop Stage, featured Tïesto playing live. Not long after the party, Rodrigo started to research further into the artists that produced electronic music and found characters like Lee Foss, MK, Art Department, HNQO, who basically introduced him into the Deep House genre and awakened his love towards the music they produced.
Later on, this enormous affection towards Deep House was going to be redirected by a new door that opened. The way Rodrigo discovered Deep House, through research and listening for hours to different tracks, was the same way he would ran into Tech-House and Techno, genre that made him want to follow the steps of artists like Hot Since 82, Patrick Topping, Green Velvet, Jamie Jones, etc.
As a teenager and after years of practice as an amateur, Rodrigo has started playing his favorite artists’ music in relatives and friends’ private parties. This was his motivation to keep the track of what he considers to be the best hobby a person can choose.
Although he has attended classes offered by a Peruvian DJ school in some opportunity, the biggest part of what he knows was learnt through practice. “Roux”, as his friends call him, has little by little discovered on his own everything a mixer can do. Like anyone who is so into this world, he is looking forward to take his beloved hobby a step further.
