Roc O Star
Roco-O-Star was born in Anderson, Indiana. He was raised primarily in a single parent household . His Uncle Derrick and Aunt Marcia played influential roles in his upbringing. As a child Rock-O-Star was removed from his mother's care and placed in foster care. His biological father was a musician and had a strong background in the music industry. At a very young age, Roco-O-Star followed right behind his father's footsteps developing an interest in music. In addition, he attended his Grandfather’s church in which enhanced his desire in music. As a foster kid he did not have the opportunity to see live performances or concerts as financial resources were limited yet these circumstances did not stop Roco-O-Star. In fact, his passion for creating music blossomed even more . This is where the journey to his music career began!
Roc-O-Star attributed his music style to the greats of Muddy waters, Chuck Berry and BB King, to name a few. Roc-O-Star took a mixture of different sounds he loved and created his own Roc-O-Star sound. As his music started to take off, he had to put his music career on hold to help raise his son. He was determined to provide his son a positive childhood unlike the experiences he had as a child . He made the ultimate sacrifice and stopped creating music. While putting a hold on his music career and juggling side jobs, he set a new goal. In order to cater to his child's busy schedule and new found interest in basketball, he established himself and opened a youth facility called DC Complex. DC Complex helps support sports training in all ages which includes giving back to the community. Roc-O-Star believes that families should not be limited in participating simply because they could not afford community-based programs. Currently DC is working on establishing a mentor/tutoring program which will focus on children from single parent households.
He initially thought that opening a sports training facility will complete his desired life goals, it did not. In fact, as his son got older , his desire to create music motivated him. As he returned to the studio, his first love naturally ignited and he started creating music again! Roc-O-Star’s music is being described by those that hear his music as “Alternative Rock”.
