Who Is Kraftmau5? by rockwoofstone published on 2012/12/02 12:52:31 +0000 This track started as a Kraftwerk-esque lead line crashing into a Deadmau5 style track, with the result being what you hear here. Created with a mixture of Doepfer A-100 modules & units, with a few other modules thrown in. Key elements of the setup were as follows: Main melody - Dark Time driving a Dark Energy, with a Pittsburgh Analog Delay added. Pluck bass - A-110 with fairly standard signal path. "Fuzzy" bass - E340 Cloud Generator with similar. Both the bass-lines sequenced from an A-155, with the pluck bass transposed using the offset function of an A-138b mixer. Drums from a SEQ-01 sequencing a DrumDokta, with switching between drum patterns controlled using the trigger switches on the A-155 at the appropriate moments. The long filter sweep was achieved using a long envelope triggered at various stages from a Pressure Points, which essentially controlled the frequency and resonance of the filters used on each of the bass-lines. Master clock from my own DIY controller, divided variously by an A-160, and a RCD, then triggering the A-155, Dark Time, SEQ-01 and gates for the bass-lines. A synchronised Monotribe produced a kick-drum only line (not audible in final mix), which was used to side chain compressors for both the bass-lines in the final mix. All recorded simultaneously into Logic, then some stereo imaging, reverb and compression added in post for the final mix-down.
