Robin Hood Gardens - demolition 19/01/18 by Robin Hood Gardens - field recordings published on 2018-01-21T14:53:23Z The banging sounds are the metal frames being knocked out from the concrete barriers on the streets in the sky walkways and rattling sounds are hydraulic excavators breaking up parts of the west block that have already been removed from the main structure and then adding them to the pile of rubble on the area that used to be the children's playground ...very depressing indeed! Coincidently while I was recording the neighbouring school started it's break time and the pupils come out into the playground making all the sounds of joy...seemed to me to be a penitent juxtaposition to the sounds of demolition, especially given that some of the children maybe well live - or have lived - on Robin Hood Gardens.
