Credited as being one of the founders of the Las Vegas scene, Robert Oleysyck is respected as one of the early pioneers of the west coast underground music movement, dating back to the early 90's. Well known as the driving force behind the legendary nightclub, "Utopia" (which was often referred to as the Twilo of the west coast), he was the Resident DJ and organizer for a glorious five year run, playing to thousands of people every night, and hosting International talents such as Sasha, Paul Oakenfold and Carl Cox.
Garnering praise from fans and the media alike, Robert has been awarded as the Best DJ in Las Vegas several times, and has been featured in countless magazines and interviews. He's held long term residencies at such famous venues as Tao, Rain, Ghostbar, Spundae, Late Night Empire, Giant and The House of Blues, with guest appearances all over the city, including Wet Republic, Perfecto, and Godskitchen, and has toured throughout North America extensively.
A Billboard Magazine dance chart reporter since 1997 (one of only about 140 DJs in America), Robert Oleysyck contributed to the weekly chart featured in this globally recognized industry standard publication, and has stayed at the forefront of EDM, even before it was popular, bringing fresh music into his city and worldwide with his Podcast, "The Feel Sessions."
Born in Seoul, South Korea, Robert was adopted and emigrated to New York at the age of 4. From an early age, it was clear that he had a proficiency and feel for music as he figured out pop music tunes and melodies on a keyboard striclty by ear. As a teen, he developed a love for drums and rhythms, and began to appreciate all different kinds of music. It wasn't until his freshman year in college as a Pre-Med student, that he was fortuitously exposed to the world of DJing. Because of his natural ability and talent for music and rhythm, he picked it up immediatley, and started playing at local college parties and bars. Soon after, Robert made his way out west, and eventually landed in Las Vegas, where he immediately started playing at the top clubs in town, all while honing his skills and becoming a master of the craft.
Robert is recognized as one of the most knowledgeable and technically proficient DJ's around. He even wrote and taught a full training curriculum for a DJ Academy. His vast library of music and experience with a wide range of genres gives him the ability and flexibility to blur the lines between music styles, and seemlessly mix and program music for a wide variety of crowds and situations.
But what is Robert Oleysyck's style? "I've always said that good music is good music, regardless of the genre it's given or what's it's called. I like music that makes me feel something, wether it's an energetic groove, an uplifting vibe, a melodic touch, a moody thought, a romantic notion, or a sensual rush, music always has and always will be one of the great loves of my life."
You can hear him play sexy Deep House, groovy NuDisco, emotive Progressive House, driving TechHouse and Techno, Club bangers, and even Breaks, but that barely scratches the surface of what he's capable of. That's why he can adapt to a relaxing lounge, or an energetic festival or any shade inbetween. He's been called "The DJ's DJ," inspiring listeners and even other DJ's with his heart, soul, energy, passion and emotion.
Perhaps his biggest landmark achievement was breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous DJ Set. He was asked by 944 Magazine to mark their anniversary by attempting to break the record in front of the infamous Palms Hotel & Casino. In July of 2007, an exhausted Robert Oleysyck broke the record at 88 hours.
As a producer, remixer and partner in record label Stainless Digital, Robert Oleysyck's creations are available on Beatport, iTunes, and Amazon, on labels from both the U.S. and abroad, many of them featured on multiple issues of the acclaimed Promo Only series of compilations, and can be heard around the world, with support from BBC Radio 1, Ministry of Sound Radio, Proton Radio, DI.fm, and Frisky Radio. Lately, he's been producing under his new "KAMAERO" moniker, taking time off from shows to work on a full length album.
With a career spanning over 20 years, Robert Oleysyck has proven to be one of the most talented, diverse and respected DJs around. His list of accomplishments speaks volumes about his dedication to the art and the music industry, and his resume reads like a historic timeline, garnering him status as a Las Vegas icon and legend.
