Renato Baldi
Berlin (From Paris)
LaBaldi aka DrBeat's musical identity was determined early on. As a young kid in Rimini, in the video games rooms that bordered the beach, he was more attracted to the powerful beat of the New Wave and the Italo-disco than by the Atari games that seemed to hypnotize the other kids.
At the beginning of the 90s, he skips school to hang out in the rave parties and discovered artists such as Laurent Garnier, ScanX, Emmanuel Top, Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke ... who built his musical universe. He then dreams of becoming Dj and offers himself MK2 turntables with his first pay. Very quick, he starts playing at the Mixer bar and le Café de la plage in Paris.
Later, he immerses himself in the Parisian night, carried by the gay scene, his emblematic clubs (Queen, Palace, Les Bains, or more underdground, Pulp ...), and his mythical parties (Scream, La Boule noire, Eyes need sugar). The raise of a talented French scene with artists such as Laurent Garnier, ScanX, Emmanuel Top, Ivan Smagghe, Jennifer Cardini, Dj Freddy, Miss Kittin & the Hacker stimulates and sharpens his musical culture.
In 2005, he creates his hairdressing salon. The Parisian clientele appreciates the atmosphere and the quality musical programming. The artist Pascal Lièvre chooses this place to organize a series of performances of contemporary art, the happenings called Glamorama.
At the same time, he is resident Dj at Udo Bar and plays punctually at the party "Je ne suis pas DJ".
In 2007, DrBeat discovers Berlin, its energy, its incredible Techno scene and the Berghain. He then understands that it is in this city that his personal and artistic adventure will continue.
Since two years he’s a resident of Tokyo Redlight, a Techno party hosted by the mythic Berliner club Wilde Renate and plays regularly in most of Berlin's Techno clubs and underground House and Techno parties.
