AVENIR Emiliano Pennisi TipTop Audio Records / Striclty Groove Recordings / Sleep is Commercial Like many electronic artists, Emiliano Pennisi spent his early years experimenting with IDM, glitch and dance, but one consistent element in his musical journey has been his desire to create a more organic, humanised sound. Through these experimentations he has found a process of producing electronic music that feels close to this urge. You can tell many things about Avenir, born Emiliano Pennisi and raised in Palermo, but his character, his feelings and the music he makes it will explain much better who you have in front. Currently managing one of the hottest party downtown Palermo and finishing his second full lenth album, here you find one of the best thing we've read about him and his debut album. Juno Records: JUNO RECORDS REVIEW OF LAST ALBUM BROKEN ANTENNA --------------------------- There's something pleasingly old-fashioned about this debut full-length from Italian producer Emilliano Pennisi. It's not that it sounds particularly dated - the sounds and production techniques he employs are strictly contemporary - but Broken Antenna's adventurous eclecticism evokes a period when electronic producers were not afraid to pack their albums with a variety of sounds and styles. Taking a deep house sensibility as its starting point, Broken Antenna variously touches on off-kilter electronic disco, cinematic electronica, jazz-flecked beats, glistening synth-pop, curious tech-house, muted electro-swing and even glossy Italian house. While it may be lacking the "wow" factor, it's certainly an accomplished and highly entertaining set.
