Chopslee Chopsley-E Mōkro New Orleans, United States Chopslee (a.k.a. Mōkro) practices the sacred art of musick and is the founder of Rebel Bass Music. Having escaped from the Old City Ice House at the age of 13, Chopslee (aka Chopsley-E by the great Dr. Morgus) is a genetic experiment gone wrong (or maybe right?). Chopslee is an incomplete genetic clone of the original towering behemoth known as Chopsley, but due to complications in the oxygen levels of Chopsley-E’s development tank, his growth was stunted and he was almost all but forgotten by the good doctor. His “brothers” and “sisters” Chopsley-A thru Chopsley-Z unfortunately didn’t make it through the development process at all (as far as he knows). Chopsley-E spent most of his childhood years in the infamous closet of experimental patients gone wrong in the Old City Ice House. He was only able to escape in 1996, many years after the doctor evacuated the premises, when the new tenants naively opened the closet to find Chopslee surrounded by the bones of the other patients left in the closet. Survival of the fittest? The then 13 year old feral boy was able to evade authorities and find shelter with a kind voodoo mother, known only to him as Sister Hazel, who noticed the boy crowing wildly at the moon one muggy summer night while shutting down her booth at Jackson Square. Luring him with fresh fruit and slide of hand she took him in and dubbed him Mōkro. Through the years, she educated him in the art of street living and magick. Armed with a fake I.D. and the will to be like the older kids, Mōkro absorbed what he could from the local Junglist’s of the Bassbin Safari and sounds of Bounce music so often heard in the streets of New Orleans. After the tragic and slow, yet natural death of Sister Hazel, Mōkro took on the mask of his “father” and is embracing his roots as executioner of all things wack. Beware of Chopslee and his Bounce Junglist style.
