Milwaukee, United States
An electronic music enthusiast for 20 years, REaktor has been everything from the guy hugging the speaker at 3am, to DJ, to promoter. Introduced to a mysterious scene in the mid 90s, he fully embraced it and all it stood for. From the beginning the signature sounds of acid and techno that dominated the Midwest were easily scorched into his brain. Inspired by his DJ friends and a mixtape by Nigel Richards, in 1999 he bought his first set of decks and by 2001 was playing house parties and after hours in Milwaukee.
In 2002 REaktor started throwing small scale local parties with his friends as the talent and held shows in a small rural bar in Wisconsin that not only packed the house, but brought crowds to the dancefloor. It cumulated in a massive show in 2004 co-promoted with another local promoter and friend entitled "World War 3 Acid vs House". Standing room only, lines outside of the venue, and the best of the best in local talent going head to head with the crowd as the judge. A gig that year in Madison playing with and for his idol, DJ ESP Woody McBride entitled "The Acid House" saw the zenith of his short career.
Not long after that, REaktor,,,busy with life and coupled with a sudden disdain for where music and the scene in general was unplugged and packed away his decks and hung it up. And so they sat and collected dust. A sale of decks and mixer in 2009 completed the turn and no more was to be expected. Until.......
In 2012 with a 2 year old daughter, another child on the way, and in the middle of moving into a recently purchased home, REaktor made a discovery in his basement. Long thought lost CD's of old mixes. Listening to them stirred something and made him realize his children would never know this part of their father. Not wanting or desiring to play gigs or "make it big" anymore his sole reason for coming back and playing music again was to show his children a side of their father as well as educate them at an early age on music and history.
Adapting to new technology, and more mature opening his ears to the more modern sound of newer music REaktor released his first new DJ mix in almost 10 years in September of 2014. A blend of deep house and funky deep Tech House was welcomed with open arms by fans old and new. In October of that year, he got back to his roots and released a dark, hard driving techno set entitled "Am I Evil?" that was soon after featured on the Midwest's longest running electronic music radio show, "Late Night Beat Generation" on Milwaukee's own 91.7 WMSE.
His young children have embraced their fathers music as they are witness to his home sessions and dance while he plays, the one thing he wanted and hoped for. Another mix, "Sunday Funday"...a blend of deep Tech House and Techno was broadcast on 91.7 in January 2015. REaktor has undertake a new mix set series entitled "Intervention" which he features on SoundCloud to showcase all forms of Techno, and soon will be releasing another mix set series entitled "Mediation" which will focus on more deep Tech House. Following in the footsteps of his idol and friend Woody McBride he will be branching out from the famous Deep Mix Moscow and starting a Deep Mix Milwaukee series featuring deep, ambient style music from himself and local artists exclusively online. Also, a return to his acid roots is expected in the future.
While not looking for big fame and money, REaktor is a simple man hoping to bring happiness to people through music and coming full circle in this journey is the joy in it.
