Rayna Vasileva

Rayna Vasileva is a Bulgarian vocal performer and educator of singing, piano and music theory. She has a specific and recognizable voice. She has endless curiosity towards other musical styles like pop, jazz, funk, latin music and is always ready to experiment with them.
She was born in Smolyan, Bulgaria – a small town situated in the Rhodope Mountains. She began singing at a very young age drove by her father. She graduated in folk singing the renowned music school in Varna, Bulgaria – “Dobri Hristov”. She continued her studies at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, majoring in “Music Pedagogy”. In folk singing she was in the class of Svetla Karadjova. In parallel with her studies at Sofia University, she attended classes in pop and jazz singing and significantly developed her talent in this direction.
She was part of one of the most popular Bulgarian Choirs – „Cosmic Voices“ who has been rewarded with many prestigious awards from around the world.Her brother Zhivko Vasilev, along with her creates “OUTHENTIC” in 2012, where they both blend Bulgarian folklore with jazz, funk, pop, flamenco and etc. The Outhentic released their debute album “YesToday” in 2016 and their second album “Transparent” in 2019.
She was part of the Bulgarian band – Banda Del Padre, with which they combined Bulgarian folklore with Spanish music, the Bulgarian “Blues History Band” and the Bulgarian Vocal group Avigeya and Ivan Shopov. She has repeatedly attended the master classes of Christiane Karam, a lecturer at one of the best music universities in the world – Berklee College of Music.
She has participated in various Bulgarian and international forums and festivals around the world. Some of them include: Ethno Flanders (Belgium), Ethno Sweden (Sweden), 12th edition of the European Night of Museums 2016 (Sliven, Bulgaria), Glastonbury Festival 2017 (England), Jazz Forum Stara Zagora (Bulgaria), GuitArt Festival 2018 (Bulgaria) and 2019, World Fest Plovdiv 2019 (Bulgaria), etc.
She has collaborated with many amazing musicians from all around the world such as : Ryan Leslie, Max Moya, Juan Garcia-Herreros, Roberto Quintero, Milcho Leviev, Stoyan Yankoulov, Georgi Andreev, Dessy Dobreva, Ventsislav Blagoev, Theodosii Spassov, Ivan Shopov, Christiane Karam, David Dower, etc.
