Spanish language Specialist, Latin Culture and Music lover currently working in the Latin Touring and Programming Division at Live Nation Entertainment., and have the best job ever!! I get to listen, discover, promote and share new music with the fans. I also have the privilege in contributing in the making of some of the best and most exiting Latin Music events throughout our 32 owned and operated House of Blues and The Fillmore properties in the U.S.
I'm also very proud of being part of the birth and growth of this Division in Live Nation, and to have the trust and support from a Company who trusts us to bring THE top acts in the industry, as well as Local and up and coming Artist and Musicians throughout the country.
2012 was an awesome year for the Latin Music World, full of exciting tours, shows and incredible performances by some of the hottest bands and rock stars, pop acts and divas.
in 2011 we also had the incredible luck to witness the return of some of the biggest names in the Latin music industry and some of my personal favorite that I never got to see Live in concert, either because they either split up when I was too young or had never stepped foot in the U.S.
A band I want to highlight is Caifanes, who I finally got to see live. Don't get me wrong, I saw Jaguares Live tons of times, and Vampiro is a great guitarist, but to actually hear Marcovich riff through Miercoles de ceniza, and rip that sound out of his guitar, wow. "I felt as if the Angel of Rock was giving birth in my ears"... It was mind blowing and a big name on my "Concert Bucket List".
To see Cafe Tacuva was always a for-sure "Fun time", but this time was different, they came back with a bang and reminded everyone in the industry what a real Rock show should be like. That interaction with their fans, the quality in their delivery, and the total respect and love from their fans only confirms what was proven long ago. Cafeta has the best "Front Man". Ruben is just great, mis respetos totales.
But if we cannot say the word front man and not mention the ultimate Latin Rock Star, my ULTIMATE idol, Enrique Bunbury. Gotta give him mayor props for he is in my opinion the "Hardest working musician".
In 2012, after touring year after year all over the world promoting his latest album "Licenciado Cantinas", composing on the road, recording documentaries, and short films-behind the scenes. Recently nominated in the Latin Grammy's for best (long length) music Video from his latest album "Licenciado Cantinas".
"El Heroe Incansable", I call him. Such a disciplined person, lets recap: Vegan, and probably why he looks like he is 30 years old. Tours the world, records album after album, shoots massive amounts of incredible creative and visually mind blowing music videos, that sadly do not get the air time they deserve. But nevertheless, he goes on without mayor media spot light and without complaints, and sells out show after show everywhere he goes.
I should highlight the fantastic work he has don leading his management and "SOCIAL MEDIA" team. Bunbury is one of the most followed and Liked Artist in all social venues. He stays up to date, shares a strategic amount of posts and comments that develop real direct engagement with his fans. From posting personal political opinions, to posting his show's "Set lists" and sharing his food preference and diets.. He has an incredible Social Media strategy that should be an example to all new and established artists.
Another thing Bunbury has done behind the scenes is recording countless hours of behind the scenes footage, which will soon come to light and will bring an insight to the Man whom a lot of us would trade life’s in an instant if possible. I can only expect great things from "El Master" Enrique Bunbury.... But what I really pray for every single night before I go sleep, is for him to soon come out with a "Tell-All", full disclosure Auto Biography.
I want to know everything. From why he does not like Football (Soccer), to his transition from Heroes to Bunbury, his trips to India, the stories behind his Tattoos, his learning’s, deeper political and spiritual views and believes.. Basically I want him to write a book as raw, interesting and funny as Slash did with his. I read it cover to cover 3 times, it was the most fun time I've ever had reading..(Yes, I already made this request to everyone in Bunbury's camp, I want that book!!)
Another hard working road band that shined along Bunbury in 2011 is Zoe, who thanks to the great quality of their studio albums and the massive deserved success of their latest Album, "Musica de fondo" (MTV Unplugged), Zoe is becoming the next huge Rock band of this generation, but only if they stay together. Leon has his side project(s), and I actually like them, but Zoe is different. It's the band this generation and all generations of Rockeros (and posers) were waiting for. Don't need too many words to describe Zoe, they are just the shit. They can be the "Mana" of the Alternative Rock World, again, if they stay together.
I would see them any time, any place, period.
Other great tours and shows were: Andres Calamaro, Enanitos Verdes and Hombres G, PXNDX, Molotov, Panteon Rococo, Calle 13, Diego Torres, Don Omar, Belanova, Moenia, Reiyli, Don Tetto y lots more. To check rare live footage and videos, as well as the complete list of concert tours I've worked on, please visit the "En Vivo Des de el HOB" Official YouTube Channel links listed below.
I dedicated countless days collecting all these videos and rare footage of every show, and it's being updated daily with old found footage or recent videos from all 2012 concerts and tours I have also worked on.
