Random Thinking is a band formed by the siblings Aurora (voice, guitar) and Ángel Pérez (lead guitar), born and raised in Cádiz (Spain). They began their studies in music when they were teenagers and they started to write their own songs back then. Both were greatly influenced by British and American music from the 60s and 70s and from other contemporary musicians, Folk, Blues and Rock mainly. They self-produced their first EP, with six acoustic songs recorded strictly live and they played around well-known venues in Madrid several acoustic gigs.
With the goal of recording their own first LP, they contact and hire renowned local and international musicians like Bernd Voss on the electric guitar (Dionne Warwick, Bonnie Tyler, Miguel Ríos,..), José Mena on the drums (Jorge Drexler), Alberto Miras on the keyboards (Paco Cepero), José Manuel Posada “Popo” on the bass guitar (Concha Buika, Vicente Amigo,..), Gospel Factory on the backing vocals (Jon Secada, Juanes,..) and Jaime Roldán as assistant in artistic production.
Aurora and Ángel recorded their first LP “Random Thinking”, self-released and self-produced, at Pko Studios with the Grammy awarded music engineer Caco Refojo. The record contains 11 songs fully composed by the Pérez brothers. Every single note is recorded live and using analogic devices, similarly to how musicians recorded in the 70´s.
The result is a high quality album which returns to Folk and Blues in a breeze of fresh air. Styles and genres are mixed with elegance and personality, while the whole sound is rooted in powerful harmonies and melodies full of expression.
