The Days Will Come ... ist eine siebenminütige Orchesterkomposition, die sich auf die Zeit der industriellen Revolution, kurz vor 1900, bezieht. Damals bedrohten die dampfgetriebenen Maschinen die Existenz vieler Handwerker. Um dem totalen Niedergang zu entgehen, verbanden die Menschen damals Funktion und Kunst, damit die Menschen auch im Alltag von Kunst umgeben und durchdrungen sein sollten. Das war die Geburt des Jugendstils ....
Heute bedroht die Digitalisierung in ähnlicher Weise eine ganze Reihe von Berufen und Arbeitsplätzen. Die Zeiten scheinen sich zu wiederholen.
In meiner Komposition, die als Tondichtung konzipiert ist, geht es um Bedrohung, Konflikte, das Scheitern dann aber auch um das Finden der erlösenden Idee, die sich in einer Kombination von Funktion und Ästhetik manifestiert (Konzertmusik +Tanzmusik).

This orchestral composition tells within seven minutes the story of the birth of arts-and-crafts movement. In the end of the 19th century the steam driven machines sustituted the jobs of many craftsmen. In order to avoide being without work and to escape poverty they had to find something machines could not do. So they started combining function and art and demanded that for a good life people should be surrounded by art objects every day. Combining art and function was the solution and the birth of the arts-and-crafts movement, the german/austrian Jugendstil and the french Art-nouveau.
Nowadays we are facing a similar revolution since the digitalisation is about to substitute countless jobs. Yet there is no answer to the question, what man can do better than computers ... In my composition, following the idea of a tone poem, the inherent story is one of a crises, conflicts, defeat, but also about the genius idea, to combine function and art (here concert music and dance music).
