Member says Ultra attacks on Cairo sports clubs "unacceptable" by RFI published on 2013/03/09 15:39:06 +0000 In Cairo, hardcore football fans known as Ultras set fire Saturday to several buildings, including two police officers' sports clubs. The unrest came after an Egyptian court upheld death sentences for 21 defendants over a football riot in Port Said last year. But several police defendants were acquitted. Fans of Al-Ahly football club, whose members were killed in the stadium violence last year, had warned that they would retaliate if the defendants were let off the hook. Muhammad Al-Asqalani, a police sports club member, suggests the Ultras are behaving like a militia.
