Can African cities benefit from Europe's Green wave? by RFI published on 2019-05-28T08:30:04Z As a green wave of public consciousness sweeps across Europe, African cities are hoping this will translate into greater equality when it comes to fighting climate change. Its effects are already being felt on the continent, as shown by the deadly cyclone Idai in Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Malawi. Policy makers, such as the mayor of Ghana's capital Accra, are urging a global approach to make the fight fairer. Mohamed Adjei Sowah was recently appointed to represent African cities on the board of Global Covenant Mayors, an international coalition of cities and local governments combating climate change. He talked to RFI's Christina Okello about his new role and its importance for Africa's fight against global warming.
