Rachel Lightbody Rachel Lightbody Glasgow Vocalist, Rachel Lightbody is a young talent based in Glasgow. Growing up in Chicago she was immersed from a very young age in the sounds of American song. From Billie Holliday to James Taylor, the family home was always filled with music and sparked Rachel’s early interest in performance. Fast-forward to today and you’ll find her constantly singing with peers and mentors live and in the studio across Scotland, as well as teaching and working creatively in the community. Upon attending Strathclyde University’s BA Applied Music course, Rachel became involved in many different styles as well as the thriving and ever changing live music scene in Glasgow. She graduated with a first class honours in 2011 focusing on contemporary and jazz vocal as well as composition. It was at university were she would meet musicians and be exposed to different genres which would inspire her musical movements and enable her voice to grow into a versatile and mature instrument. Rachel has worked with artists such as Fat-Suit, Flembot, Bella Hardy, Tom Gibbs amongst others. As well as a singer, Rachel has also worked extensively as a teacher, focusing mostly in the areas of singing, songwriting and group work. Working with students ranging from all walks of life. “The energy that is created from a room full of people singing together is second to none.
