On climate change by A Quaker Take published on 2019-05-24T10:54:13Z What’s the Quaker part in the wider climate movement? Why are faith groups so involved in taking action to tackle climate breakdown? In part 1 we talk to Susanna Mattingly from Friends Worlds Committee for Consultation (the international Quaker body) about what that looks like in different parts of the world. fwcc.world/sustainability We also talk to Olivia Hanks about the Quakers in Britain take on the climate crisis. To join the mass lobby of parliament on 26 June email Philip Wood philipw@quaker.org.uk www.quaker.org.uk/sustainability. I found it very helpful to understand from Susanna how different Quakers around the world are taking different practical and spiritual approaches to climate breakdown and how this feeds into wider Quaker structures and actions like QUNO. It was also good to hear Olivia talking about his part of what we can bring is a specifically spiritual response to the damage we are doing. At the moment I am part of the Equipping for Ministry course at Woodbrooke and I have been thinking and talking with others about an ‘Earth testimony’ that would subsume sustainability as a testimony. Do you know of anyone else working in this kind of approach? Many Thanks Paul Hodgkin 2019-06-08T11:43:12Z
