Erika, a.k.a. "Cozmik" and "QueenBossLady" is a lifelong visual artist, professional photographer and dual business owner with roots in DC and now based on the Gulf Coast - her specialties are Offbeat & Documentary Wedding Photography, Commercial and Music Photography. Aside from shooting, regularly contributing to regional publications CosmicVibesLive.com and The Vinyl District, she is also Co-Founder, Co-Principal and CFO at Elektrik Eventz - a quickly growing and respected Events Production | Promotion | Marketing firm with two bases: DC and Florida's Emerald Coast - which aims to provide the region with only the best Electronic Dance Music events - "Nightlife the Way it was Meant to Be." #INCLUSIVEnotExclusive. Her original productions include #ElektrikBLOOM, #ElektrikFANTASY, #ElektrikPRIDE, #DRIFT, #BubblesandBeats, #BlackoutNSA on the Gulf Coast, #Elev8TheUnderground, #SINandSPIN, #GryphonAfterDark & #SundayConfessions in DC.
Growing up in 80's and 90's DC - the underground on Friday nights was at TRACKS. This is where Erika's love affair with #HouseMusic began in 1989. It is only natural that she be one of the Artistic Cozmik Mistress-Minds behind Elektrik Eventz and Co-Owner of Elektrik Metro Radio - DC's First and #1 All House Music Station. And only fate that she now manage the DJ who's Legendary Legacy will live on forever in DC: DJ Earic Patten, Strictly Rhythm Producer and Dancefloor Records alum, 6 year resident DJ at Tracks DC 90-96.
A graduate of LRHS in 91 with an Art Scholarship to FSU, graduate of the Washington School of Photography in 2002, with several years between the Corcoran and Montgomery College, Erika has definitely made her voice known in the DMV scene, shooting weddings and local & international recording artists. Her work graces the websites & record albums of artists such as Cyro Baptista, Vieux Farka Toure & John Lee to name a few. Her work has been published in Relix, Guitar Player Magazine, Today's Photographer, The Gazette, Freelance Star, The Deli, The Vinyl District and The Washington Post. She has covered countless concerts/festivals in the eastern states, including Firefly Fest in Dover, DE, M3 Rock Fest in MD, Floyd Fest in VA and shot on stage with artists such as The Flaming Lips, Fitz and the Tantrums, Death Cab for Cutie and toured with world-renown Brazilian percussionist Cyro Baptista nationally as band photographer. She has even braved the "pit" as the only female shooter for The Dead Kennedys action-packed performance at Rock-n-Roll Hotel in February 2013, proud of her battle scars including a cut lip, bruised knees and mild concussion. Her visual HouseMusic work with artists such as Deep Dish, Teddy Douglas, Derrick May, Louie Vega and Ultra Nate have earned her the title #DCHousePhotographer, named by Lady Ultra herself.
Music Photog yes, but Erika also remains one of the most sought-after wedding photographers in the LGBTQmunity on 2 coasts, trusted by hundreds of couples nationwide who only want to work with the Best. She delivers, providing affordable pricing and award-winning images, working in several states as the preferred wedding photographer for RingInLove.com, MarriageDC.com OffBeatBride.com, Holy Cross MCC and the ACLU Pensacola area.
Shooting for over 28 years, with simple aspirations of ruling the World through Music and Photography, she is most definitely a female force to be reckoned with and has a visual voice ready to be heard world-wide. Her clients and colleagues agree. Unafraid to climb, crawl, jump or throw a stiff elbow - Cozmik Girl ALWAYS get the shot and #QueenBossLady always has a move.
"DJs: Stop calling it future House, future anything. You sound stupid. Baby togs: stop undercutting Pros and get a real education. Other than that, Live, Love, Dance and #keepitpushin." - CoZmiK QBL
