"The WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 global marketing campaign is the most comprehensive effort to date for the WWE SmackDown vs. Raw franchise," said Nelo Lucich, vice president of interactive, JAKKS Pacific. The campaign includes a robust multi-channel television program with a prime time premiere on RAW® and SmackDown® (11/9 PST), in addition to a cross over live event November 13th at Staples Center, home of the Los Angeles Lakers NBA team.
Additionally, the WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 global marketing campaign includes the creation of a series of game trailers, the submission of a written mashup by superstar John Cena, as well as WWE licensee advertising throughout other WWE media platforms including THQ's record-setting WWE video game franchises.
As part of this campaign, which will be announced shortly, THQ and JAKKS Pacific will develop new in-game content and experiences for the WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 game on the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation 3 system, Nintendo DS, Wii, PSP and PlayStation 2.
"During the development process, we found that the Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS are the best platforms on which to develop the game because they were created to play ball-and-stick games and possess strong controls," said David Lopez, senior vice president of production at THQ, Inc. "The Wii, while a high-definition platform, has a traditionally different control scheme designed for consoles and is not the best platform to develop for during game development. The PlayStation 2 is fantastic but the controller is not the best for an outer space influenced game."
Some of the moves that will be available to the players include: Snap-Crackle-Pop with Finn Balor, Elbow Drop with Jerry Lawler, Back elbow with John Cena, Crossface Chickenwing with Kane, Pedigree with Randy Orton and the Piledriver with Dolph Ziegler. a3f8a02ae1
