Recording the new album...
Psycho Choke is a Greek groove-metal/core band formed in Thessaloniki in 1999.
Incorporating heavy metal melodies and 80’s aggressive thrash metal tunes blended with 90’s Bay Area nu metal waves and old school hardcore swagger, the five-member group recorded its debut CD in 2001, and since then is pushing metal sound to new explosive levels restlessly.
The group consists of Argy (rhythm guitar), Bax (lead guitar), Al Roy (vocals), George Montes (drums) and Phantomas (bass guitar). Billy Paralis (vocals) left the band in 2003.
During the early stages, Psycho Choke were touring and performing live regularly across the country, building their reputation and gaining loyal followers in the local metal scene and beyond. The Band’s on-stage history includes two mind-blowing opening shows for Cavalera’s Soulfly, legendary Pro Pain, Stampin’ Ground and epic power masters Firewind among others.
The band self-released their first debut album called “Choke On This” in 2001 followed by “One Mind Less” in 2005 and a 4-track Mini CD in 2007, named “The Last Moments of Absence”. By that time, Psycho Choke decided to move a step forward by shooting their first successful video-clip “Get Myself Alone”, which was directed by George (Detox) Papaioannou. With a kick-ass video, raw lyrics and impressive attitude, the band attracted positive comments and reviews from the metal community all over the world.
In 2010 Psycho Choke returned stronger with their third full-length album “Unraveling Chaos”. Thanks to the valuable participation of Gus G (Ozzy Osbourne, Firewind), Jacob Hansen (Invocator, Anubis Gate), Marios Iliopoulos and Olof Morck (Nightrage), this killer album provides uncompromised heaviness. The album was produced, mixed and mastered by metal professional Jacob Hansen (Heaven Shall Burn, Volbeat, Nightrage) at Hansen Studios in Denmark. The entire artwork was designed by well-known artist Seth Siro Anton (Soilwork, Rotting Christ, Paradise Lost).
It was this album that eventually caught the attention of 7hard Records in Germany, and was released in 2010.
The 40-minute “Unraveling Chaos” is straightforward insanity from beginning to end. The unique combination of old school psych-core throat-shredding vocals, ultra-catchy metal riffs with windswept melodic solos accompanied with incisive hooks and adrenaline-filled crashing drumming, brings out a dynamic of the most aggressive, outrageous and undoubtedly the sickest album the band has to present up until now. If you belong to those hard believers, check out the band’s website for free exclusive material along with the second video “Get Down”, directed by professional Gabriel Psaltakis who revealed his exceptional and inspiring perception in this work.
The band says: “This is only the beginning. We truly appreciate and respect every single one of you for standing by our side all those years. Get ready for more to come when you least expect it and most importantly Stay Metal and Stay Psycho. We will see you all out there soon.”
At the moment Psycho Choke are working on their upcoming album so stay tuned to be the first to know any updates straight from the studio.
