13 One Moment In Time (Carl von cosels requiem) by PStevenson published on 2012-09-12T20:37:55Z http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Tanzler I've seen so many faces turn to ghosts before my eyes and I've felt my blood drying up it shards against my beating heart I've wasted so much time on words that mean nothing i wish i had you asleep in my arms and i will pray forever just for one moment in time just enough to say goodnight and we could watch the sky turning red your hands in mine and the sun wont be as bright I’ve walked so long, alone as I walk the darkest path I’ve known your voice as it guides me through like a ship you’re my lighthouse Genre Space Rock Comment by Mel Pew Last night I saw a musical "It Happened in Key West" based on this true story. Absolutely bizarre...and the writers bill it as a "zany romantic comedy" 2017-08-27T15:14:18Z Comment by PStevenson @penwirk: thankyou - that's such a nice comment. I am surprised there hasn't been a real movie about this story, there has been re-enactment documentaries and stuff but a big hollywood movie would be ace. 2014-08-22T10:43:20Z Comment by penwirk Love this song. i just got to know about this story. Wish a movie could be made out of this with your song in it 2014-08-19T18:22:24Z Comment by PStevenson @pstevenson: aye - that's the point of view I wrote this song from too. it does say in one documentary that he was interviewed and he said that she sang to him and asked him to take her home. So I do believe it was more of a delusion than him wanting a sexual relationship with a corpse. You should send me a link to the short script you did. It’s one of those stories that really interests me. 2014-03-28T17:03:11Z Comment by Jd Moores Interesting. I recently won 3rd place in a national short script competition for an entry based on this story. It's predicated on the notion that VonCosel's delusion was so complete that perhaps he wasn't even completely aware that Elena had truly died and that, for him, this was NOT anything horrific but rather a wonderful, very personal romance. In fact, I personally think that what the town of Key West did with Elena's body -putting her on display the way it did - was actually far worse than what VonCosel had ever done. He, at least, had kept his proclivities to himself. It was really everyone else that turned it into the nightmare it became. 'Not that anything justifies grave robbery, but if you're going to do it, you may as well do it with VonCosel's reasons in mind and keep it discreet as he so obviously did. 2014-03-25T19:32:10Z
