After You've Gone by Daniel Michael (P.52.S) published on 2013/01/12 22:09:07 +0000 Week #2: After You've Gone was written in 1918 by the writing team of Turner Layton (music) and Henry Creamer (lyrics). But it was made popular in a recording of Marion Harris, which is available online here: archive.org/details/MarionHarris. The song seems to have been covered by an enormous amount of artists. A quick youtube search reveals excellent versions by Django Reinhart, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone and modern artists such as Rufus Wainwright and Fiona Apple; just to name a few. This is one of my favorite songs, and there is a lot more I could say about it. For now, I'll just say that I hope you enjoy my rendition. Thanks for listening!
