It is common to find a majority of artist biographies with the phrases "passion for music", "moving a whole room", and "take you on a magical journey" as well as key words like "energy" and "intense". However, those are not highlights to what makes a great artist, rather, they are the minimum requirements. Pri yon Joni expands beyond the status quo and enters his 18th year in the artistry as a producer, turntablist, and club mix artist that takes creativity to the edge of performance.
A combination of classic hip hop technique and modern digital controllerism, Pri yon Joni's live show is a performance of combining elements of scratching, beat juggling, and live remixing to electronic music genres. While he is a well versed as a club and hip hop mix artist, Pri yon Joni is at full potential with his production and performance of electronic dance music especially electro house, breakbeat, progressive, and dubstep. The constantly active showcase of active methods during his performance sets him apart as a show to watch and not just to dance or listen to.
After his move to Des Moines, Iowa and only after a few years, the eclectic but electronically driven sounds and technique of his mix has expanded to dancefloors across the Midwest making him a reoccurring featured guest in Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Omaha Nebraska. While taking on nightclubs, Pri yon Joni helped shaped and co-founded the promotions and entertainment group, the iParty Crew. Along with his pupil and partner Ya Boy Dru Soy, the iParty Crew has expanded along with Pri yon Joni as a prominent symbol of a nightlife euphoria. With DJ's, go go dancers, and promoters from South Dakota, Michigan, and Florida, the iParty Crew has gone from a local promotions team to a national performing act.
Pri yon Joni was mentored by DJ Ruckuss and DJ Marquis back in his early days in Detroit. He has passed to torch to a handful of students who has followed him including Ya Boy Dru Soy as well as his female DJ Crew, the Sonic Crystals, which includes DJ Glaze Doll and DJ Miss Mina.
By 2011, Pri yon Joni has released many official remixes with established artists including DJ Godfather as well as Lil Jon, complimenting the discography of international collaborations with European artists from the years prior. The remix of DJ Kontrol ft. Lil Jon's "Get Naked" was charted #1 for the month of October 2011 on Serato's White Label website. His remixes continued to be frequent downloads from DJ City, Beatport, and iTunes.
In the summer of 2011, Pri yon Joni and Ya Boy Dru Soy showcased the new remixes at Des Moines' premier electronic music festival, 515 Alive, on the main stage at sunset. The success of the showcase was followed by a collaborated performance with the Jump Smokers later that month, as well as a debut event opening for Cazzette in Tampa, Florida on Halloween.
In 2012, Pri yon Joni was awarded as the winner of Sound in Motions' DJ contest for their Afrojack show in Minneapolis. Due the scheduling confusion, he did not end up opening for Afrojack, rather he was later the opening DJ for 12th Planet and Dada Life in October.
Pri yon Joni continues to perform based in Des Moines along with a growing YouTube Channel of memorable shows, technical advice, and comedy. Outside of the music, he and the iParty Crew are asked to host and cover events as a featured personality, spreading the vibe and feeling that the iParty Crew is reputable for.
