Primacy Auckland Primacy are a 5-piece alternative metal band from West Auckland, New Zealand. They incorporate a groove-metal base with other elements of hard rock, progressive metal and a twist of blues flavour. Their first EP Failure and Sacrifice was released in 2016, and followed by a mini-EP in 2017 III. In 2018 Primacy underwent a line-up change, which naturally resulted in a stylistic shift in the sound of the band. The songs, along with production took on more of a natural, raw sound, and dropped the death metal hints in favour of a more hardcore tinged sound - whilst still retaining the progressive and blues elements as foundations in the music. Primacy's first album Seeds of Change released on the 22nd of May, 2020. Production began on the album back in 2017 with the introduction of vocalist Rhys Saran. It takes listeners on a journey through the challenges of a band during a period of shifting direction, evolution and growth as songwriters and individuals.
