Prays the Kid Formed during the summer of 2012, NYC-based Prays the Kid is the culmination of five years of songwriting, collaboration and soul searching by singer / songwriter Paul Kelleher. Picking up a beat up $75 nylon-string Yamaha guitar for the first time in 2006, Paul started writing and performing original songs that carried with them an instinctive southern grit influence. Collaborating with long-time friend and guitarist Nik Kanodia, they wrote, recorded and performed early cuts of songs that now reflect a soulful blend of folksy blues, modern alternative and raging punk rock. Feeling the urge to take things further, Paul and Nik recruited Marcel Hamel on bass and David LeBlanc on drums and have been performing their music at various venues around New York City with the visceral energy and originality it deserves. Paul's songwriting and the PTK sound continues to evolve as they consume a multitude of various new influences. With a deep vocal range, expressive lyrics, whimsical melodies and blurry diction, Prays the Kid delivers a sound that often reveals their biggest influences which include Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Andrew Bird, Joy Division and The Strokes.
