Ponchita Peligros is a Spanish rub a dub singer/songwriter characterised by her sweet voice and her fun and creative DJ style that brings us back to the 1980s. After releasing her first solo album playing sax and singing in 2008, Ponchita focused on singing Rub-a-dub in Soundsystem dances and started collaborating with sounds and producers from all over the world. Ponchita started working for Riddim Tuffa and Stalawa, whose productions attracted the international dub scene attention for this upcoming talent. In 2013 Riddim Tuffa featured her in combination with Parly B on “Come ina This” which was her first big step into the international dub scene, after which she continued working with Riddim Tuffa producing two other tunes called “Musical Iration” and “Musical Attack”, that the audience received with opened arms. In June 2014 Scotch Bonnet Records released her first 7" vinyl and after a complete sell-out in two months, Ponchita and Stalawa came back again in december with a second 7" release made for the Rub a Dub lovers all over the world ina "Different Style". In 2015 Ponchita launched her first EP alongside Interrupt, "International Affair", collaborated with Dub Smugglers on "Once in a Lifetime" and also collaborated with Creation Culture Hi Fi on "Hold on The Pressure" EP. In 2016 Ponchita continued with two other EP collaborations: "Take a Lift" released on Totally Dubwise Recordings and "Bam Salute", released by Roll & Record. Ponchita's third 7" vinyl release "Joy" got released on Grand Ancestor Records in 2016, and her fourth 7" "DJ Queen" released on the new Mungo's Hi Fi "Dumbarton Rock" label alongside Danman, was a complete sell-out in one week. In 2018 a Stalawa's refix of an unreleased collaboration with the Scotch Bonnet Records family, "Run The Calypso", has been included in the new Puffers Choice vol. II compilation. After two years of evolution working on two albums, one of them for Ariwa, 2020 has taken off with one of Ponchita’s unreleased collaborations with Stalawa”Lovers Connection” being finally released and Dub Conductor announcing their next release “Danger Style” soon coming out on vinyl later in the year.
