Automatic Children were called one of the top NYC bands by The Deli Magazine. Twice. They were also a Reverbnation Featured Artist the week of April 2, 2012. Releases include a 2007 EP "It's Not Me, It's You", a limited-edition vinyl 7" from 2009 "Coming Over Me"/"Solitude", a full-length album "New is Beautiful" from 2010 and a vinyl 7", "Johnny"/"Now You Know" from 2012. Skopemag.com called "Coming Over Me" "classic indie rock that does not disappoint" and said that it "has hit all over it." Steve Holtje of Big Takeover magazine called the song "Wake Up" from the 2007 EP a "poppy post-punk gem with some of the best this-relationship's not-working lyrics ever." Brooklyn Rocks said that "the EP is a lo-fi gem". The two 7" releases were mastered by Steve Fallone at Sterling Sound (TV on the Radio, Sonic Youth, Yo La Tengo, Ra Ra Riot).
Known for their savvy lyrics and songwriting, male/female vocal interplay and rocking live shows, Automatic Children has been played on dozens of radio stations and charted on several of them. Their sound is diverse as journalists have compared AC to The Replacements, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Joan Jett, The Velvet Underground, The Pixies, Sebadoh, X, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Individuals and The Rolling Stones. Clubs that AC have played include - NYC: The Studio@Webster Hall, Highline Ballroom, Southpaw, Mercury Lounge, Rockwood Music Hall, Arlene's Grocery, Fontanas, Goodbye Blue Monday, Spike Hill, Coco 66, Public Assembly, Parkside Lounge, Bowery Electric, Wicked Willy's, Cameo, Trash Bar, Club NME and Legacy Nights at the Annex NYC, Two Boots and Ray Kelly's in Bridgeport, CT, The Space in Hamden, CT, and Gemstones in Lowell, MA. Festival performances include the MOVE Music Festival in Albany, NY, the Elephants for Autism festival in Atlantic City, NJ and CMJ (NYC) in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
