Thee Daft Linus Scenario - One More Terrace (unreleased Left Handed Bastard bootleg mix) by pkaulf published on 2013-05-19T15:39:08Z So, a couple of nights ago I came across this on the hard drive, having not listened to it for a good few years. I realised it had been just over 10 years since I made it, and was mulling over putting it online as it was never properly released. But listening back to it now, it does grate a bit; everything is far too compressed, the tempo is too fast and it's about 5 minutes too long, so I decided against it. Sounded good to my 2003 ears though! I only sent this out to a few people, one of whom was Pete Tong, who played it on Radio 1 live from Ibiza (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/petetong/tracklistingarchive.shtml?20030725). After that there was some interest from a few labels including Ministry of Sound, who were about to re-release "The Terrace" with a vocal version, but unfortunately that didn't come to anything. Apparently Linus Loves didn't like it - it wasn't until a few years later that I realised one half of Linus Loves was Kevin McKay, who of course released several Romanthony records on Glasgow Underground. Not sure if that had anything to do with it! I actually first thought up this mix when messing about on the decks with Felix Da Housecat's Jamie Starr Scenario - Welcome 2 Thee Lite, which used the same sample. When the Linus Loves version proved popular a couple of years later, I thought I'd try and get a bootleg done, and I remembered that One More Time went really well with it. But there was no acappella, which is why I didn't bother before. After a few hours with Cool Edit Pro's noise reduction filters, I was able to extract a good acappella from the long breakdown, and made judicious use of EQ to get the other bits I wanted. A few more hours in Acid Pro and Buzz later, the remix was done. So anyway, since an official release wasn't looking likely, I pondered (I do that a lot) releasing a white label, but unfortunately someone else got there first. (http://www.discogs.com/Daft-Punk-vs-Linus-Loves--Michael-Jackson-One-More-Terrace-Baby-Be-Mine/release/609389) Not sure where, when or how they got hold of it, but it doesn't seem to have been a very good copy, the record sounded terrible. After that, I decided the ship had probably sailed, and didn't really want to be known solely for making Daft Punk remixes, so I left it there. Back to today, and the sad news of Romanthony's passing, I thought why not? Hope you like it.
