Philipp Rumsch Philipp Rumsch Leipzig Philipp Rumsch, born in 1994, is a composer, pianist, and sound designer based in Leipzig, Germany. Between 2013 and 2020 Philipp Rumsch has studied jazz piano under the aegis of Michael Wollny and Richie Beirach at the Academy of Music and Theatre Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy in Leipzig. In 2016 and 2017 he has refined his sound design and composition capabilities at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen with, among others, Niels-Lyhne Løkkegard, August Rosenbaum and Valgeir Sigurðsson. Philipp is working both as a pianist, composer and arranger with artists, bands and ensembles from different genres. He has written music for theater and performances. His work is influenced by Avant-pop, electroacoustic, contemporary classical and improvised music. Philipp releases his music on the renowned record label Denovali. In 2018 he received the Leipzig award for young jazz musicians, funded by Marion Ermer foundation (Leipziger Jazznachwuchspreis der Marion-Ermer-Stiftung).
