Petri Petro Petro Chatzopoulos Bruxelles Petri Petro, with his real name Petro Chatzopoulos, was born on July 23rd, 1976. He is Belgian with Greek origin. The attraction to Hip Hop started at early ages. He began as a graffiti artist which is later to become a MC and finally a beat maker. He participated in several events among which of the block parties and street albums. Petri Petro believes that the inspiration can come from anywhere and that’s why he is open to all types of music. Besides hip hop, he likes listening to folk music, as well as classical music, jazz and etc . He grew up in the urban culture with heavy beats as those of Public Enemy, Rakim, Wu Tang and so many others. Petri Petro was always interested in the night-life for the festive atmosphere and associated with a lot of hip hop and house parties. At that time he haven’t tried to compose house music pieces yet Petri Petro is above all a self-taught, say; he learned everything on the job. He realized that he missed some techniques of mixing which was needed to professionalize his work. He started a series of training in audio, including electronic music producer in SAE Brussels. Having acquired new skills he improved his hip-hop beats, and at the same time, he discovered how to build a house beat. He made his first try outs by being inspired by DJ’s which he already knew, such as Armand van Elden, Junior Jack, Eric Prietz... After having his productions listened to his trainers, via them he discovered other DJ’s, such as Sven Vath, Karotte, Ritchie Hawtin, Dubfire… It didn’t take long for Petri Petro to be contaminated by the virus of electronic music. His new productions were strongly appreciated by his trainers and this encouraged him to continue on this way. What he likes the most is all the big kicks, the bass, the samples and especially making the crowd move.
