String Quartet 1 by Samuel Penderbayne published on 2012/05/29 10:00:33 +0000 String Quartet #1 , for string quartet, written for submission and assessement as part of a portfolio of compositions fulfilling the requirements of a Bachelor of Music (Composition) with Honours. Duration: 22 minutes. The work is largely modal, mostly using scales inspired by Dmitri Shostakovich and Olivier Messiaen, and occasionally using tonal harmonies and textural atonalities. It is structured in two halves of two movements each, and the two halves are reflections of one another. Live performance by: Liisa Pallandi, Doretta Balkizas, Alina Zamfir and Adam Szabo.
