PAULO VENTURA
Nashville, TN
Hi!
I'm a Nashville's audio & music producer from São Paulo, Brazil.
My interest in music sparked by spending lots of time watching MTV back in the 90's. Amid all the different genres I was exposed to, Metal and Rock, and all its distortion, rhythms, and rebellion were what mainly held my attention. In the early 2000's I started to create songs during my high-school years. My initial influences were São Paulo's nightlife and club scene, which consisted mainly of old school Techno, Trance, and Euro Dance.
Those were important years mainly because my lifestyle wasn't really welcome at home, where I would feel repressed by my conservative and religious family, driving me to spend more time with my squad and on the streets, where soon we got in touch with underground circles. The assimilation to the rave scene had a major impact on my music. Creating the project KanuaK and participating in several others, I developed a deep relationship with the dancefloor, carried away by the leading Brazilian underground electronic music at the time: Psy-trance.
That romance lasted several years while I was in college, and it was during those days that I decided to take music seriously, investing lots of my time to produce music. So much so that in 2006 I worked on 5 different albums for KanuaK. I stayed fully immersed in that realm until, because of Brazil's economic situation, I moved from São Paulo to Washington, D.C. with my ex-girlfriend, looking for a better life and more opportunities.
When we left Brazil, I was producing almost exclusively Psy-trance, and in America, there was no public for it. I found myself forced to adapt and my music was reshaped once more. American culture and its myriad influences took me back to my origins, with an opportunity to broaden my perspectives and influence the weight of my productions with a newly acquired taste for genres such as Electro and Progressive House, Dubstep, Hip-hop and more.
I spent 7 years in D.C. where I put Psy-trance and KanuaK on the side, focused on producing EDM beats under the name Paulo Ventura while DJing regularly at multiple venues. I also got a Master's degree in Audio Technology in 2016 before I moved to Nashville. Here, in the music city, I've got more familiar with the Country and Pop scenes, interacting and collaborating with artists all the time.
Currently, I'm swinging between producing local artists, selling hip hop beats and working on my artist portfolio and live set. A major goal is to spark and expand the Electronic scene in the city, which has been dormant for years, and ready to get out of its shell once more, now that Pop and Electronic are blending together and Nashville's conservative population is willing to embrace it. I've been spending a considerable amount of my time meeting DJs, PR agents, and event planners, brainstorming on how to make the music city look into the future without letting go of its past.
With songs written by award-winning songwriters such as Karen Leipziger, Lockwood Barr, and Matraca Berg, to date, I have accumulated hundreds of tracks, featuring artists such as Adam Horin, Davis Malory, Nebraska, Notelle, OG Curry, Randall Holloway and others. 13 albums, various projects, participation in many compilations, and dozens of international live appearances. I will continue to keep innovating and pushing the boundaries of my creativity to exciting and unknown realms.
With a unique style, my dynamic tracks feature elegant melodies, seamlessly transporting your body into a fierce experience of sounds and beats, carefully crafted and aimed at even the most eclectic crowds.
Enjoy the ride! _/\_
