Born in Makassar 1988, young Indonesian electroacoustic composer, sound and new media artist member of Awahita Nusantara, whose art and musical interest is to use technology and scientific approach as creativity tools. He also interested in 3-D sound spatialisation, analog/digital synthesis, psychoacoustic, and visual music.
Many of his works used the original characteristic sound of Indonesian traditional music instruments, computer generated sound/images, field recordings, and underwater photography; transformed, rearranged and modulated by mathematical rules, real time interaction and controlled random operations. Patrick Hartono's work has particular focus on sound and visual spatial exploration either virtual or physical. The results include music on acousmatic composition, surround sound concerts, live electronic, compositions in the tradition of academic computer music, underwater photography, installations, site-specific sound art, experimental media, and interdisciplinary arts.
Patrick's music has been internationally performed; YCMF (Yogyakarta, Indonesia), Wocmat (Taiwan), Andong Dance Festival (Andong, South Korea) Sound Bridge Festival (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), ZKM (Karlsruhe, German), IRCAM (Paris, France), Behind The Score (Rotterdam, Netherlands), NYCEMF (New York, USA), Sines-Square (Manchester, UK), ACL (Yokohama, Japan) etc.
Patrick is currently based in Den Haag studies at Codarts Rotterdam Conservatorium and Institute of Sonology where he actively involved in local and international electroacoustic, and new media scenes.
