Scarcity Records kicks off 2013, bringing this release that a regular and unscrupulous partygoer would probably denominate as "epic win"; I say "win" because it really _is_ win in all of its aspects: it is complex, it has character, its extremely good for the crowds, DJs of all sorts most definitely will find a mix in this package they can pick up and play out and it _will_ make them look good, but, most importantly I say "epic" because it trully is a journey. Just as its title suggests, Ghost Of Jupiter, is a voyage through Space, is basically when and where you find your mind wondering among the planets of the Solar System and probably even way beyond that. All that translated into the language of dance music and intricate break beats.
As Virginia's premier breakbeat DJ/producer team, Paranoid Androidz are becoming huge up and down the Atlantic Coast. The group is comprised of veteran DJs Vinyl Alchemist, Konversion, and Rican who have almost 30 years on the decks combined. Their original mix of "Ghost Of Jupiter" was a delight to our ears from the first second after we hit play; the annular, full, meaningful melodies take you away quickly, making your mind wonder, but it is not only about this, of course, the growling, sly, bassline makes its way in over some really crisp beats. It will take you places!
Australian dj and producer, Karl Sav brings the main elements of the original into the territory of deep, dark, glithcy basslines, where synth effects crowl everywhere but where the beats stay up and tight.
Russian producer from Moscow, Phrea Spirit is not a new face to the Scarcity catalog, not at all. He has made his presence felt since the beginning of the label, pouring his drum'n'bass flavoured beats over many of our releases so far, conscientiously doing the very hard job of transforming a breakbeat track into a drum'n'bass track. He was successful this time again melting the original melody from Ghost Of Jupiter and shaping it into this big room d'n'b piece.
Yanix is our techy-beats/hard-punching-bass specialist; he hits the right spot again with his recipy, delivering this peak time roller. The breakdown stays true to the feel of the original track, creating a sublime and very melodic atmosphere, but the drop will get your feet back on the dancefloor and bring bliss into your eyes.
