On Broadway: Billy Currie Odyssey Solo Gary Numan LO79 (PKH cover) by PKH published on 2011-04-13T21:39:55Z This is my version of Billy Curries's solo featured in 'On Broadway' from the 'Living Ornaments '79' album by Gary Numan. This version tries to emulate the original production mixed by Tim Summerhayes from the free single/1980 EP not the newer mix from the LO79 CD also mixed by TS, but not as good in my opinion. I used a GMedia Oddity VST for the solo, Pro53 for the Voxhumana Polymoogs, Yamaha CP-30, and the Yamaha SW1000 for the bass guitar part. The CR78 pattern was created from various 'one-shot' samples. Really, mate, you should get in touch with Billy Currie and talk to him because the sound on the Ultravox tour is not as close to his sound as yours is here. Absolutely magnificent stuff. Thank you for uploading. 2015-10-02T14:24:58Z Comment by BlueSmokeRacer Breathtaking 2015-09-26T17:02:21Z Comment by Seabarmusic Excellent work! 2015-07-09T16:21:57Z Comment by In This Mode wow sounds just like the original! 2015-05-31T09:24:56Z Comment by Craig Sue - CITIZEN CLONE My God... just mind blowing... amazing job Paul. Never thought that Gary would do an old song and turned it into a futuristic electronic sound, but love it none the less though! Have heard it before actually, a very long time ago to be honest! ;-) 2013-10-14T02:27:57Z Comment by Battlecat1 That is BRILLIANT! Stunning reproduction of the best Synth solo of all time. Well done to you. I love it. Gave me shivers, so it must be good if it did that to me, because I am very picky when it comes to good music!!! 2013-09-26T20:07:47Z Comment by numanfan79 Genius best cover ever done of this track 2013-08-08T22:49:43Z Comment by kevinl wow 2013-08-03T07:15:57Z Comment by PKH @synthetic-pastures: I agree. For and improvised solo it is failry intricate and uses the features of the Odyssey to great effect. It has taken me many years to finally get this close with the help of GMedia's Oddity. 2013-06-20T09:15:55Z Comment by colinf so good, class with perfection 2013-05-20T18:17:49Z Comment by Synthetic Pastures This has got be one of the best solo's ever done and you have got it spot on well done. 2013-04-28T00:50:31Z Comment by This Perfect Dilemma I'd buy the Oddity software now but I'd never do it justice. This is awesome. You've got that sound talking to us. Love it. 2012-10-22T20:57:56Z Comment by PKH @andyford69: thankyou very much. 2012-08-26T20:13:29Z Comment by AndyFord69 Absolutley the best synth solo to ever have been recorded and this a is a great cover :) 2012-08-26T18:51:27Z Comment by PKH @rocinante-1: thankyou very much indeed. I think we may be on the same wavelength. I love DuranDuran too. Nick Rhodes use of synths was like a masterclass and a huge influence on me; along with Numan and Barbieri of Japan. 2012-06-12T10:10:58Z
