Demanding Two Faces (17-EDO) by Stephen Weigel published on 2016-09-02T04:36:20Z A dance track in 17-tone-equal. The music continually changes, but is always repetitive enough to be recognizable, similarly to how the song lyrics portray the described relationship. The song represents common feelings of wanting something different and new all the time, but not realizing that this is hypocritical. Music, lyrics, and performance by Stephen Weigel. Lyrics: How can I get to know you if you’re different all the time? How can I be bored when you’re different all the time? I can see we’re just a step out of sync. Anything can be good Anything that feels like nothingness or surprise I can be fake for you, hate to think. I desire your Chaos On a daily Basis Symptom of the Pathos That bewitched our Faces You love surface-details, I love testing limits I’m broken, I’m sick, I can’t go back to basics What ruined appreciation? I… can see we’re just a step out of sync. We’re in other lands, in other places I’m underwater, but my breath holds better under Stasis. I can see we’re just a step out of sync. Perhaps add in a bit of the vocals without the vocoder effect, or go back and do a whisper track to annunciate the consonants a bit more, or maybe play with the number of bands? I've never really gotten a vocoder to sound good, so I can't quite recommend the right thing to do. 2016-09-08T01:19:20Z Comment by Texvn I think it needs some percussion to add a bit of crispness. You've got the kick in there, but a snare and hats would do nicely. see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nni0rTLg5B8 2016-09-08T01:15:23Z Comment by Texvn Overall I love the sound of this track. The constant switches between dissonances and consonances are wonderful. 2016-09-08T01:12:30Z Comment by Texvn That's a bit closer to where you want the vocals. I would suggest recording a few additional copies of this track and let the slight differences give the vocals a fuller sound. 2016-09-08T01:06:30Z Comment by Texvn Take a compressor to those vocals. They're a bit too quite. I feel they should sit a bit farther forward in the mix. 2016-09-08T01:05:24Z
