Nadir Agha aka Ostrich found passion for art, especially in music and films. It wasn’t until 2003 when the Montreal-based artist explored the depths of his talents as a DJ, producer, and an aspiring filmmaker. His signature sound carries various flavors of techno and deep house with a minimalistic sensibility. His narrative approach to DJ sets under the Ostrich moniker allows his art to speak through music.
In the summer of 2008, Montreal gave birth to a series of events called 13 PERCENT. Thriving to showcase select events in which the creation of electronic music and digital art becomes accessible to a broader public. Founder, curator, and resident DJ, Ostrich hosted numerous events in the last 6 years and invited international guests such as Dixon, Roman Flugel, Shed, Martin Buttrich, Cassy, Mathias Kaden, Daniel Bell, and Joel Mull to name just a few.
2009 marked a giant leap when Ostrich and Maher Daniel signed “Haute Couture” to Tiefschwarz’s imprint, Souvenir Music. This release garnered lots of praise and was played by the likes of Richie Hawtin and Seth Troxler, including being featured on John Digweed’s Transitions radio show as well as selected for Andre Galluzzi’s mix CD compilation, “The Sound of Berlin 2010”.
While taking a hiatus from production for a few years to help strengthen the city’s nightlife, Ostrich took on the role of Talent Buyer and resident DJ at Stereo Nightclub. Currently satisfied with the city’s progression and state of the scene, he recently took a small step back to focus more time into his own music. Continuing where he left off with collaborations, he teamed up with Shadi Megallaa as "The Linguinis" and put out a vinyl exclusive single that was released on Ark To Ashes in early 2014. Fast forward a few months to April and you’ll find Ostrich and Maher Daniel commissioning a track to Leftroom Records for Matt Tolfrey & Ryan Crosson’s mix CD compilation, “Don’t Be Leftout”.
With firm production deadlines and goals in place for himself in 2014, Ostrich holds monthly residencies at Salon Daomé and Stereo, in addition to being determined to finish a few solo EPs in the studio before the end of the year.
